Technically

Memorial Day morning we ate second breakfast at the park. The Pirate is like a hobbit. He eats multiple breakfasts before lunch. This day we ate second breakfast at the park to support our Boy Scout group. You buy a ticket and they give you breakfast. Surprise, surprise The Pixie ate six breakfasts this day. I realize this is because pancakes and sausage are infinitely yummier than oatmeal. It could also be because syrup reminds her of the bottles we fed her when she was an infant. Hmmm... I mean, Yumm...

We ate so many breakfasts that by the time we finished it was technically lunch time. So I let the kids skip lunch. Which technically they'd eaten in the form of pancakes.

Later we drove up to the Covington/Kent area where the family of friends provided us with a BBQ. I'd made the potato salad the day before so Memorial Day was a fantastic day for me because technically I didn't cook a thing.

The Princess did ask me why we celebrate Memorial Day. I was glad she asked. I was so thrilled I didn't have to cook I'd forgotten the real reason for the season. Shame on me. So I told her how we were using this day to remember all those who have served us and our country by fighting for our freedom. She got a little upset because technically she can't really remember all those people. "I'm just five. I don't know who they are. I just can't remember them."

Oohhh...technically it's not my fault she can't remember. Morally though? Oops.

I know, I know, I'm still a good mom but truthfully, technically, I sort of goofed Memorial Day up.
