I am positive it is called this because I am a fool to think it feels like spring outside.
I opened the window for a cool breeze and quickly shut it against the chilled blast.
Thou fool.
And on Sunday I considered it a particular trial of my faith that the Lord would let the only sunny day of the week be on Sunday.
The irony was not lost on me either.
And so today I think of how cruel a fools day actually is. I've never been mean enough to play tricks on people.
I lie.
Many years ago on April Fools Eve I turned one of my brothers clocks forward by an hour and a half.
Less in attempt to joke and more in an effort to not be late to school based on his proclivity to tardiness.
It backfired.
When his alarmed buzzed the next morning, in a sudden display of punctuality, he jumped from his bed, raced through his chores and sat in the cold living room for an hour and a half waiting for Squishy to turn on the heat and for the rest of us to wake up.
And so ended my short-spanned life as a jester.
I've also decided I simply can't retreat from this post leaving you with a tear in your eye, so I've included this jolly antidotal anecdote.
