GROWING UP PART TWO

Frosting.

I was walking up the stairs while The Pirate walked down.

I suspect he had been pondering the sentiments expressed by his friend who had announced in primary (I'm sorry to say, without raising his hand) that he wanted to be a drag racer.

"Mom I have something to tell you."

All right.

"When I grow up I want to be a race car driver."

Oh sounds like fun.

"When I grow up and I am four."

I nodded in approval and we each went our way.

Five minutes later he came back up the stairs calling for me.

"Mom, mom where are you?"

I am here.

"I have someting to tell you."

All right.

"Do you want to grow up and be a car-racer and sit with me? Do you?"

I looked at his raised eyebrows and perfect nose and soft cheeks. Oh my hearts all a flutter. I would do anything to be with you when I grow up.

"You will sit with me in the blue car?"

Yes even if my life is in peril because of your driving.

"Then I will share with you."
