WANT VS. NEED

Mr. Right and I decided 11 years ago to not buy the "wants" for our kids unless it was a special occasion.

Wants like Lego sets, gum, super balls, art sets.

Usually they have to earn it.

Actually, they are pretty lazy, so instead of earning it they just wait until the special occasions.

Today Mr. Right couldn't help himself.  He bought our artist, The Pixie, her very own, $10 set of colored pencils.

She's been wanting them for a while.

Into the second hour of drawing I said, Your daddy is really nice to have bought you that.

"I knoooow."

He's pretty cool to have decided to get you such a special thing.

"I knooooow."

Why do you think he did that for you?

"Because he loves me."

Yea, because he. . . wait a minute. . . you know, I love you too.

"Sure."

No, really.  I love you even though I don't buy you stuff.

"Sure."

Wait, wait, why do you think I don't buy you fun stuff?

"You're too busy."

Well,  If that's the way we're playing it, tomorrow I'm telling them I bought them white bread, but Dad replaced it with wheat.
