KINDERGARTEN

IMG_0186-2 So Pixie, tell me everything about your first day of school!  What happened when you got on the bus and the doors closed?

“The Pirate sat down by the Neighbor Girl but I didn’t get to.”

No?

“No and I was so sad.” (She begins to cry just remembering the horror.)

Did you cry?

She stopped crying, “No.”

Why not?

“Because there’s no crying on the bus.”

Is that what the driver said?

“No.  It’s just what I thought.”

Of course.  How brave…so then the bus stopped at the school.  What did you do then?

“We got off.”

How did you know it was time to get off?

“Because the man said the kindergartners should get off.”

When you got off was Ms. Scaga waiting for you?

“No.”

Was anybody waiting for you?

“No.”

How did you know where to go?

“The Neighbor Girl took us.”

That was nice of her, but did she get permission?

“There was a lady that said, ‘Hello’ to us and then Neighbor Girl told the lady she would take us to Ms. Scaga’s class so the lady said ok.”

Oh, that was SO nice of Neighbor Girl to take you.

“Yeah but she went a different way then Dad to Ms. Scaga’s class.  She went this …mom are you watching?”

I’m driving but sure, OK, I’m watching.

“Neighbor Girl went this way and dad went this way not this way that was what the Neighbor Girl did when she went this way.”

Hmmm…When you got to class did you just stand there at the door or go sit down?

“Ms. Scaga took our backpacks and showed us our cubbies.”

OHHH!! You get cubbies!!!

“And then we sat at our tables.  I do not remember the other girls names.  And we colored apples and had to cut them out.”

And then what did you do?

“We…I forgot.  But I DO remember that after snack she told us to go read.  And at recess I saw Reese and Neighbor Girl (you know that I saw Neighbor Girl because she leed the way)  and Rylee and Natalee and Nicholas but Nicholas got out of line and got in trouble.”

Did you ever get out of line?

“Uh…(pause)…I just went crooked.”

Crooked?  Did you get in trouble for going crooked?

“No.  She just told us to get back in line.  She’s nice.”

Did you talk to Tobin while you were at school?   What did you say?

“I forgot, but I know when we were coloring pictures of us I said, ‘Tobin when are you done?’  That’s all I know.”

Was it fun to go to school?  What was the best part?

Seeing all my friends at recess.
