Oh delightful mornings. I love you.
I love fall. I love the smell. I love the sun - which Seattle does not see nearly as often as we do here in the harbor.
I love the crisp air.
I love the very busy goings on of the little birds in the forest in our backyard.
I love the rooster who resides on the farm behind us. I love him even though he crows whenever he blinks and sees the sun again.

On the first day of preschool Teacher Kim asked, "How is The Princess? Does she like Kindergarten?"
I was sorry to inform her, "No."
Teacher Kim was surprised, "No? But she's so smart and so social."
"Yes, but even more than that she is my daughter and would rather be doing nothing at home."
Teacher Kim laughed, "And are the twins excited about preschool?"
"Hmmm...at first The Pirate clutched my leg and the only words I heard him utter were, 'Don't leave me!' repeated every two minutes. The Pixie was stoic and I haven't seen her since I opened the class room door."
Teacher Kim is familiar with the throes of the first day of school, "How is The Pirate now that it's the second day?"
"Oh, whenever we ask about preschool he is all chubby smiles and often mentions the words 'play' and 'train' in the same sentence."
By then the twins had long since gone their separate ways, comfortable in the established class routine. I turned to leave but before I could shove open that heavy door which keeps little wanderers within safe boundaries Teacher Kim had one more question, "And what will you do now with two children-free hours?"
Ahhhhh I am wreathed in pleasant anticipation just thinking about it. "I? I will do nothing."
Even though friendly Gail invited me to go the gym and I love her and the gym, doing the gym is doing something.
I intend to do nothing.
For at least three weeks.
This will make up for having a two year old and twins during Mr. Right's residency.
It's the least I can do.
Of course eventually I will do something.
But for now...nothing. At least nothing tangible I could spread with my fingers and lay before you with pride.
So this lovely morning I took the sweet little bugs to school.
I came home to my new white dishes which needed to be put in the dishwasher, to the oatmeal on the counter, to the laundry (it's laundry day), to the wheat flour (it's bread day since I missed it yesterday) and to the phone ringing and I walked past it all and out the back door and sat on my deck.
And did nothing.
