October, in an attempt to encourage my children to read more, we offered an incentive.
Collectively read 60 books, over a four months and win an overnight-er at a hotel with a pool.
Rules:
- The Queen has to OK the book as worth a point.
- The Queen occasionally allows a 3 books for 1 point deal (ex: Magic Tree House or Horrible Histories).
- The Queen tries her darnedest to give everyone ample reading time opportunities before lights out.
- Start a book, finish a book.
- Mr. Right pays library fines
Surprising outcomes The Queen didn't expect:
- Resistent readers became avid readers.
- Picky readers became book worms.
- Apathetic readers became commited to their books.
Next goal:
60 in two months for a trip to Utah!
