Where We Went

We just recently came back from a cruise. I've never been on one. It was interesting. It was kind of like a PG version of Vegas, on water. The most important thing was how much food was available. Sean was a happy participant in that activity. But for the other cruise activities, like towel folding classes or ice sculpting watching, we were often too busy: eating. Sean thinks we averaged 3,000 calorie meals.

The only time we didn't eat were the five hours we spent in Cabo San Lucas. We could have spent more time on land, but it took us a while to eat breakfast. We carried around sugar water and kayaked to the tip of the Baha peninsula. The sun was so happy and the weather so pleasant that we almost forgot we weren't eating. Almost, but not really, so we hurried back for lunch.

It was also a good thing we went with friends or Sean and I would have run out of conversation, despite all the time spent chewing. Erik was so much more entertaining than the ship's comedian that we preferred his nightly routines and extemporaneous one-liners. In fact, if we placated his moods and laughed at all the right times, he provided us with a constant flow of funny.

Occasionally Lanee' and I were able to slip away from the guys so we could exercise or just...get away from the guys. We'd meet up again later and I'd ask Sean what he spent his time doing. Sometimes he watched a ping-pong game: while eating French Fries. Sometimes he and Erik swapped stories: over shrimp calzones. Sometimes he just layed on the deck in the breeze: with a hamburger.

In fact, the only time we didn't eat was during the last day when we passed through rough waters. There were huge swells and at first we felt sort of sea-sick. To get us through those rough moments we sipped hot chocolate. Then we felt better and could eat again.
